Hilong Coatings’ First Successful Application in MIIT FSRU-LNG Project

          Date 2016-05-27

(May 27, 2016, Shanghai) Recently, Hilong Industrial Protective Coatings was successfully applied in the project of  FSRU-LNG  in Nantong Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering, it’s the first application in an MIIT approved project. This is a firm step forward for the Hilong Coatings  to move toward the high-end offshore engineering market.

Ren Weidong, Vice President of Hilong Group and General Manager of Hilong New Materials Division, said that because coating applications are related to the performance of the entire installation project, the assessment and screening of coating suppliers was extremely strict, but Hilong won the recognition of the owner, MIIT, and the builder, Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd., by virtue of its technological and quality advantages and became the only selected coating supplier. Hilong won the industrial protective coatings supply contract for this project late last year.

This project is a result of national policies that encourage key equipment research in strategic emerging industries and the independent design and localization of the FSRU-LNG module, approved with financial support from the MIIT and MOF, divided into eight research projects, of which, Hilong participated in the most difficult one.

“FSRU-LNG” is a new kind of natural gas transportation and storage equipment that serves as the “ship” to deliver natural gas to the user and also the offshore terminal to supply natural gas for onshore uesers. This helps to avoid the drawbacks that the onshore terminal is restricted by power plants, industrial areas and densely populated areas and helps to reduce transportation costs and unloading times for a more economical and safe alternative.
